Cookies
Mailshell requires each member to enable cookies to sign in. Cookies are pieces
of information that a website transfers to your computer's hard disk for record-
keeping purposes. Cookies can make the Web more useful by storing information
about your preferences on a particular site. The use of cookies is an industry
standard, and many major websites use them to provide useful features for their
customers. Cookies in and of themselves do not personally identify users,
although they do identify a user's computer and may be combined with personally
identifiable information. Most browsers are initially set up to accept cookies.
If you'd prefer, you can set yours to refuse cookies. However, you may not be
able to take full advantage of a website if you do so.
Security
This site has security measures in place to protect the loss, misuse, and alteration
of the information under our control.
Mailshell has implemented strict rules for our employees who have access either
to the databases that store user information or to the servers that host our
services. We provide access to the databases only to authorized employees. Our
databases are backed up daily to protect our users' personal information. While
we cannot guarantee that loss, misuse or alteration to data will not occur, we
take many precautions to prevent such unfortunate occurrences.
You are ultimately responsible for the security of your Mailshell user name and
password. Please take care when using and storing them. We recommend that you
protect your password from unauthorized use. You should log out of your browser
at the end of each computer session to ensure that others cannot access your
personal information and correspondence, especially if you share a computer
with the public. The collection of sensitive information, such as your social
security number, is encrypted prior to transmission.
What Information We Collect/How
We Use It
Mailshell will require you to submit only your email address to become a
Mailshell account holder. Once you become a Mailshell user, Mailshell creates a
new and separate anonymous email address - a "mail shell" - for each email list
and only reveals what you explicitly give permission to reveal. This
information may include contact information (like your email address, postal
address, and zip code) and demographic information (like your gender, age, and
occupation). For more details, please read "Subscription List" below.
Mailshell keeps all of your profile (includes personally identifiable)
information private and does not share member profile information
with third parties without permission unless acting under a good faith
belief that such action is necessary to: (1) conform to legal requirements
or comply with legal process; (2) protect and defend the rights or
property of Mailshell; (3) enforce the Mailshell Terms of Service;
or (4) act to protect the interests of its members or others. You
agree that Mailshell may access and disclose information about you
or your use of the Service when Mailshell deems necessary or appropriate
to comply with the law or legal process, to protect Mailshell's systems
and customers, or to ensure the integrity and operation of Mailshell's
business and systems. Such disclosure may include, without limitation,
user profile information (e.g., name, e-mail address, etc.), IP address
and traffic information, usage history, and posted content.
When you register for a customized email domain, we will ask you to set
up "your account" which includes your first and last name, mailing address,
phone number, credit card name and number and expiration date. We need this
information to process your order to register for a customized email domain.
Mailshell may occasionally send you information about the service or your
account. For example, new users will receive a Mailshell welcome letter
explaining the features provided by the service.
Subscription Lists. Mailshell enables you to easily sign up
for as many lists as you choose, by filling out one simple form, one
time. Mailshell asks for enough profile information such as contact
and demographic information to successfully subscribe you to a subscription
list. Mailshell offers a feature to store your profile information.
This feature allows you to subscribe quickly and avoid wasting your
time when you need to enter your profile information every time you
subscribe. To help protect your identity, you are given the option
to confirm and/or override any information supplied to a third party
when subscribing. You can create multiple profiles for ready use.
You may update this information at any time from within your Mailshell
account by clicking the "Options" link on the navigation bar.
Mailshell will collect and transfer the information you provide that is
necessary for the list owner to complete the subscription. The member is solely
responsible for the profile information provided to subscription lists via the
Mailshell website. Mailshell is not responsible for the practices or the
content of non-Mailshell subscription lists. If you have a question about the
privacy policy of those subscription lists, please contact them directly. We
encourage you to read their privacy policy to learn how they will use your
information.
Opt-out.
You can unsubscribe to any subscription by signing into your account
and using the delivery method drop-down menus in My Mailshell. Mailshell
promotes an easy and quick system to unsubscribe or opt-out of subscriptions
without having to follow any complicated procedures. If you decide that you no
longer wish to be contacted by Mailshell, please write to
support@mailshell.com with your request.
Referral Program.
As part of our referral program, we request contact
information (like the name and email address) of visitors' friends and family
whom they think would like to receive the Mailshell service. If they become a
registered Mailshell account owner, correspondence will continue beyond the
first initial contact.
Links. This site contains
links to other sites. Mailshell is not responsible for the privacy practices
or the content of such websites. If you have a question about the privacy
policy of those websites, please visit them directly.
Contests. We run contests
on our site in which we ask visitors for contact information (like their name,
email address, and zip code). Sometimes we ask for similar information about
referrals; see "Referral Program
," above.
Rewards Program.
The Mailshell Rewards Program is our way to reward our loyal
members. You must be a Mailshell member and register for the Mailshell Rewards
Program to become a Mailshell Rewards Member. In order for us to issue and mail
a check to you, we will need to collect your name and postal address. Payment
to U.S. residents totaling at least $600/year is required to be reported to the
IRS. For this reason, we must have a valid Tax ID or Social Security number and
a completed form W-9 on file for each Rewards Member or you will be unable to
earn more than $600/year.
Privacy of Children Under Age 13
Mailshell does not specifically collect information about children
(defined as those under the age of 13 years old). We do not allow children to
register with us as defined in our Terms of Service. We will not knowingly use
personally identifiable information from children without first receiving
parental consent.
Mailshell abides by the requirements set forth in the Federal
Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). If a child
registers with a birth date that indicates an age below 13, Mailshell
will not collect, use, store, or disclose the personal information to
third parties.
Non-Personally Identifiable Information Mailshell May Collect
In addition to the use of profile information to operate the site, Mailshell
also gathers information about your use of our service, which may be used by
Mailshell or which we may share with our advertisers. This is information which
does not personally identify you, but which may be helpful for marketing
purposes or for improving the services we offer. Generally, this information is
collected through "traffic data" and may entail the use of "Cookies", "IP
addresses" or other numeric codes used to identify your computer.
Correcting or Updating Profile Information
You may update this information at any time from within your Mailshell account
by logging in and clicking the "Options" link on the navigation bar.
How Third Parties May Obtain Profile Information at Another Site
In addition to directly providing information to Mailshell, you might also
provide profile information through chat sessions, email exchanges, newsgroups,
or bulletin board use made available to you on other sites. These uses are
considered public and you are responsible for your actions in these areas. The
Mailshell Privacy Policy does not cover this type of transfer of your profile
information. You should always be careful when distributing your profile
information in this manner.
Spam Policy
Mailshell has a strict zero tolerance policy for spam. We believe our users
should have the choice to decide what they want to receive in their Mailshell
account. We will work hard with other anti-spam groups and similar
organizations to stop the flood of spam.
Your Acceptance of These Terms
This privacy policy is part of our Terms of Service and you agree to be bound
by all of its terms and conditions. By using this site, you signify your assent
to the Mailshell Privacy Policy. If you do not agree to this policy, please do
not use our site.
Changes to Privacy Policy
Mailshell will occasionally update our privacy policy based on our employees'
and users' feedback. If there are any substantial changes to how we use your
personal information, we will notify you by email and provide you the
opportunity to opt out prior to the changes. Your acceptance of any policy
change is indicated whenever you sign into our site after we have prominently
posted changes to these policies. Mailshell encourages you to periodically
review our privacy policy to be informed of how Mailshell is committed to
protecting your privacy.
