FTC EXTENDS PACT WITH
MAILSHELL IN FIGHT AGAINST EMAIL SPAM
SAN FRANCISCO, CA - April 29, 2003 -
The Federal Trade Commission today extended its contract
to use a customized version of Mailshell's anti-spam
software in spam-related investigations. Mailshell is
a leading provider of anti-spam software and creator
of the SpamCatcher Engine, the easiest and most accurate
solution to spam.
The relationship between the FTC and Mailshell
was launched in April of 2002 and today's extension
of the agreement marks the successful completion of
the initial term of the contract and the initiation
of its second year. Due to the confidential nature of
the FTC's spam-related criminal investigations, the
agreement prohibits Mailshell from disclosing specific
terms or implementation details.
"Mailshell is honored to be part
of the FTC's efforts to fight spam," said Tonny
Yu, president and founder of Mailshell. "We believe
that by combining advancements in technology, regulation,
law enforcement and user behavior we can dramatically
reduce the spam problem."
