LETA, Leading Russian Security
Vendor, Integrates Mailshell For Spam And Phishing Protection
MOSCOW and SAN FRANCISCO - July 7, 2008 - LETA, a leading
provider of security software throughout Russia, Eastern
and Central Europe, announced its integration of Mailshell's
anti-spam engine, including the LiveFeed real-time reputation
data service, into its enterprise security software
and appliances. LETA selected Mailshell after extensive
technical evaluation and will use Mailshell's engine
to replace SpamAssassin. LETA's customers will join
more than 6,000 enterprises and more than 15 million
consumers who rely on "Powered by Mailshell" filters
for email reputation, spam filtering and phishing detection.
LETA will incorporate Mailshell technology
into its firewall solutions, available either as software
or as appliances. The solution is available in three SKUs,
for up to 50 users, up to 250 users and up to 1000 users.
LETA's "Powered by Mailshell" filter, which also includes
other security functionality including anti-virus and firewall,
will launch first in Russia, Poland and Germany, followed
by a US launch via channel distribution partners.
"Mailshell provided consistently higher detection
rates, including protection from backscatter spam, than
other solutions we tested," said Alexander Chachava, President
of LETA. "Mailshell filters Russian spam more accurately
than other commercial filters that either have inferior
detection rates or high false positive rates with Russian
email."
LETA's customers will also have access to
LiveFeed, Mailshell's real-time reputation data service
that uses advanced statistical models and a global data
network to quantify email reputation for each message. Unlike
binary 'good' or 'bad' rating systems, LiveFeed produces
graduated trust ratings that automatically adjust over time
as reputations change.
"LETA has built an impressive business catering
to the security needs of Russian and European enterprises,"
said Tonny Yu, CEO of Mailshell. "The company succeeds by
combining excellent technology along with superior understanding
of regional enterprise requirements, expectations and buying
habits."
