(Answer) (Category) Mailshell SpamCatcher FAQ : (Category) SpamCatcher Universal :
How do I use both Norton Antivirus version 7 and SpamCatcher Universal?
Let's start from scratch and set each item up one at a time..

1) Exit Norton Antivirus.

Set up Outlook Express account settings without SpamCatcher and
Norton Antivirus:

incoming server: mail.isp.com
account name: jane (or whatever your account is)
Advanced tab, Incoming mail(Pop3): 110
This is the default port. Use 110 unless your system admin says otherwise.)

These settings should allow you to access your mail, but your messages
won't be checked by Norton or SpamCatcher.

2) Configure SpamCatcher Universal.
Run the SpamCatcher Admin Console.
Set Incoming listening port to 8110.
Click Apply.

3) Return to Outlook Express and edit the account settings once more.
This time, set
Incoming mail(POP3): localhost
Account name: jane#mail.isp.com
Advanced tab, Incoming mail(Pop3): 8110
Click OK

Now when you access your mail, it should go through SpamCatcher Universal.

4) Set up Norton

Exit Outlook.
Run Norton Antivirus.
Click Options.
Choose Email Protection from the list at the left.
In the list of Email Clients on the right, locate your account.
I'd expect to see "Microsoft Outlook Express
jane#mail.isp.com@localhost"
Check the checkbox for this item.
Click OK.

Now your mail should go through Norton as well as Mailshell.

Here is an alternate procedure to let them work together.

1) Change the incoming listening port from the SpamCatcher Admin Console to an
unused port (i.e. 8110)

2) Change the setup of your email client in order to use the new port. Account
name: jane#pop3.norton.antivirus:110

3) Change your port number in the Advanced tab of your email client to "8110"
to match the proxy listening port. This should be done from the advanced tab
for Outlook. For Eudora, you'll have to edit the eudora.ini file then add
'PopPort=8110' (from our example) just below each line where you can read
'PopServer=localhost'.
