Messaging Architects Steps Up The Fight Against Spam And Email Fraud Via Partnership With Mailshell

MONTREAL, CANADA - February 2, 2009 - Messaging Architects, the experts in email risk management and compliance, today announced a partnership with Mailshell, the leading provider of email reputation, anti-spam and anti-phishing engines for OEMs. Messaging Architects' customers now join thousands of enterprises and millions of consumers who rely on 'Powered by Mailshell' filters for advanced, accurate protection from email-borne threats. Messaging Architects tested Mailshell technology during 2008 and added a new protection layer to M+Guardian's intelligent anti-spam engine stack in the recently released M+Guardian v. 2008.4.

M+Guardian's new filtering engine combines the Mailshell Anti-Spam SDK with Mailshell LiveFeed, a real-time data service that quantifies reputation via advanced statistical models. Unlike other reputation services that provide only a binary 'good' or 'bad' rating, LiveFeed provides granular trust ratings with automated adjustment over time as reputations change. By focusing reputation on mathematical models, rather than simply an 'IP black list' approach, LiveFeed provides more accurate, highly scalable detection. For Messaging Architects' M+Guardian customers, this means an even higher level of messaging security, greater flexibility in epolicy definitions and peace of mind at a time when email fraud is increasing at an alarming pace.

"Our tests showed that Mailshell's engine and LiveFeed deliver measurable incremental filtering accuracy to our customers," said Pierre Chamberland, CEO of Messaging Architects. "Mailshell increased detection rates, while further inoculating our customers from false positives and over-blocking of legitimate mail."

M+ Guardian customers can fine-tune their blocking rules to address the unique requirements of their business and industry segment. This allows pharmaceutical companies, for example, to set up different rules than financial institutions for defining what is, or is not, legitimate email. Up to 20 different unsolicited email categories can be set up to handle exceptions. To further minimize business disruptions end users are notified when and why their incoming or outgoing email has been blocked so that they can take immediate corrective action as needed.

"Messaging Architects' evaluation criteria were simple: deliver increased protection to our customers," said Tonny Yu, CEO of Mailshell. "We were impressed by their rigorous testing and focus on finding, and quickly delivering, additional value to their customers."

Mailshell's SDKs, including LiveFeed, provide complete and consistently accurate protection against email fraud, phishing and spam. The SDKs are available on more than 10 operating systems and require as little as 32KB of code on the device. Mailshell's SDKs are embedded into security, networking and messaging products including software appliances, SaaS platforms, gateway security software, desktop security suites, UTM, mobile devices, wireless access points, firewalls, modems, and other low memory devices.

M+Guardian is a component of Messaging Architects' M+ Email Lifecycle Management Platform. Fully integrated with any SMTP-based email system, including Microsoft Exchange, Notes Domino, Novell GroupWise and Sendmail, M+Guardian delivers risk-free email to over 10 million end users worldwide.
