"Amazingly Accurate": Two 'Powered by Mailshell' Spam Filters Earn Great Reviews from PC Magazine

SAN FRANCISCO, October 18, 2012 - Two 'Powered by Mailshell' spam filters are the two best among all those offered in Internet security suites, according to PC Magazine. The spam filters embedded into Norman Security Suite 9 and AVG Internet Security 2013 suite each recently earned 4.5 stars from PC Magazine, and were rated higher than ones offered by Symantec (Norton), McAfee, Trend Micro, Kaspersky and others.

PC Magazine's most recent review of Norman Security Suite Pro 9 was enthusiastic. It reported that "Norman's antispam protection is very impressive" and "amazingly accurate". The review declared the filter "among the best of current suites" and the percentage of false negatives was "less than any current suite". Norman's 'Powered by Mailshell' spam filter also earned 4.5 stars out of five.

PC Magazine's current review of AVG Internet Security 2013 declared the product's anti-spam detection rates "extremely accurate" and "top-notch." It stated that "the spam filter mis-filed almost no valid personal mail-just two-tenths of a percent. It didn't mark any valid bulk mail as spam." AVG's spam filter earned 4.5 stars out of five.

"Independent third-party reviews like PC Magazine remain important tools for our OEM partners' sales and marketing efforts," said Eytan Urbas, vice president of products at Mailshell. "In addition to great software and support, we help our OEM partners by providing credibility that comes with great reviews versus their competitors."

Mailshell's Anti-Spam SDK provides complete and consistently accurate protection against email fraud, phishing and spam. The solution includes a locally installed SDK, as well as access to Mailshell LiveFeed, a real-time cloud-based data service that quantifies traffic reputation via advanced statistical models. The company has more than 60 LiveFeed data centers in more than 20 countries on six continents for maximum availability and minimum latency. By focusing reputation on mathematical models, rather than simply an 'IP black list' approach, LiveFeed provides more accurate, highly scalable detection.

Mailshell's SDKs are available on more than 10 operating systems and require as little as 32KB of code on the device. Mailshell's SDKs are embedded into security, networking and messaging products including software appliances, SaaS platforms, gateway security software, desktop security suites, UTM, mobile devices, wireless access points, firewalls, modems, and other low memory devices. More than ten of the premier filters for Windows desktops integrate the Mailshell engine. In addition to SDKs for email protection, Mailshell offers an Anti-Phishing SDK for mobile and web, a DNS SDK for secure, encrypted DNS protection, and the LiveFeed SDK for URL filtering and content categorization.
